Then I found Kudos Health Club, at Centrepoint, opposite the Arts Centre in Bundall, just by Chevron Island and Surfers Paradise. I only found out about it through word of mouth, and living so close, as it didn't come up on any online searches. I went off for a look around and was very impressed with what I saw. Club Kudos is Dundee's only alternative lifestyle club for Gay, Bi and Swinger community. The club now features: Sauna Steam Room Hot Showers TV Lounge Quiet Lounge Playrooms Private Rooms Private Lockers Towels Condoms Lubricant Opening Times for Sauna and Steam room for Bi and Gay males: Monday 12 Noon - 10pm Tuesday 12 Noon - 10pm. So last summer I wanted to shake up my classroom management.

Over the last ten years I have tried it all

  • coupons
  • classroom economy
  • clip charts
  • whole brain teaching
  • And was even briefly introduced to collaborative problem-solving.

All of these have worked to some extent for me. This is especially true with whole brain teaching. This fit my teaching style pretty well.

But with time I began to change a few things and adapt my strategies. I still love the rules of Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) but do need a bit more flexibility to target specific areas of need for my class. I also love the reinforcement of desired or expected behaviour without the focus on the negative. WBT uses cues to reinforce positive expected behaviour for the whole class instead of focusing on the negative. It also has the element of a game and a team which I also really liked.

Collaborative problem solving for me had and has some pitfalls. Full disclosure, I have not had time to read the books here; but hear they are wonderful and well worth the read…I have 3 kids under 7 reading a book is a difficult task at the moment but it is on my ever-growing to-do list. However, in the research I have done it has a lot of merit. I like the idea of having proactive discussions with students about barriers to their success.

So since nothing fit, I put together one that would.

“I could not have predicted my wine tasting event hosted by Liquid Kudos at Mt. Boucherie’s Summit Room. The wines presented showcased what Mt. Boucherie is capable of and each had their own delicious experience. Most notably, the 2018 Original Vines “PTG” and 2017 Summit. Admittedly, I’m not a big white wine drinker but the 2019 Original Vines Chardonnay has expanded my cellar…so to speak. I was not left hungry as the cheese and charcuterie was perfectly paired with the wine. The biggest surprise of the evening was the educational presentation on the terroir of the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys. Jesse Harden, General Manager and Sommelier captivated me throughout his presentation. Kudos to Liquid Kudos for organizing this memorable event.”
